Dumpster Sizes

Picture
Our associates at Houston Dumpster Rentals understands how challenging it can be to determine the exact size dumpster to rent. Choosing the right length, width, and height can be tough. Dumpster sizes are not the same because different things need to be hauled away. When you are embarking on a project, time is important and you don’t want to waste it. You will not have to if you make sure that you have the right one from the very beginning. At least knowing the basics will give you some idea of the size dumpster that might be ideal for you.

Dumpsters By Cubic Yard
Our dumpster sizes are measured by cubic yard; it is a measure of volume. The dumpster dimensions are often given in feet and measured from the exterior of the container.
Here are the cubic yards that are offered and what is typically hauled in them.
  • 10 Cubic Yard Dumpster – Best for smaller residential cleanups, such as a garage or basement cleanup. Possibly a 250 sq. ft. deck, small kitchen or bathroom remodeling project.

  • 20 Yard Dumpster – The dimensions for a 20 yard dumpster is 22 ft. long by 8 ft. wide by 4.5 ft. high. This is the type of container used for larger cleanup projects. To put it in perspective, it can hold up to 10 pick up trucks worth of debris and garbage. This is among the most widely requested dumpsters that we offer due to its affordability and capacity.

  • 30 Yard Dumpster – The dimensions for a 30 cubic yard dumpster is 22 ft. long by 8 ft. wide by 6 ft. high. It is also worth stating that this may vary from one provider to another. This size could accommodate a complete residential or commercial cleanup. You could likely fit debris from a garage demolition in it, furnishings that you no longer want or need, old siding, windows and more.

  • 40 Yard Dumpster – Dumpster sizes are not standard but our 40 yard dumpster is commonly used for large residential projects and commercial and industrial cleanups. You could fit roofing, old office furniture, broken furniture, demolition debris, cardboards, and much more in a 40 yard dumpster.

Always Double Check Dimensions
If you’re having the dumpster that you have selected delivered to a small area on your property you will certainly want  to make sure that the space can accommodate it. The width isn’t usually a problem; it is usually the length of the container that becomes a problem when the space is incorrectly measured. It usually increases when you have a 10-yard container to a larger container. Just remember that a dumpster is generally 8 ft. wide and swing open toward the back. If you are going to load through the door and not the top then give yourself an additional 8 feet to swing the door open. If you don’t heed this advice, you could wind up with a dumpster that won’t be of much use to you.
